Southern Mapping Company (Pty) Ltd was founded in December 2006 with the aim of offering Aerial Lidar Surveys and Remote Sensing (Hyperspectral), to clients worldwide. The staff of Southern Mapping Company, were the first to introduce LIDAR to the Southern Hemisphere and have been involved in Airborne Lidar since inception. The company operates worldwide.
Southern Mapping Company offers aerial surveying and mapping services to engineering, mining, environmental and government sectors worldwide. The company specialises in survey for
mining surveys for exploration or environment, linear route surveying such as power lines, roads, pipelines, railway lines, agriculture, irrigation, dams, forestry, Hydroelectric and all forms of infrastructure, either new or existing. The end result being detailed design plans for all forms of planning or Geographical Information Systems, (GIS).
Its team boasts highly skilled Professional Land Surveyors and GIS staff with a combined experience in laser (Lidar) surveys of over 100 years. The team also consists of the original 7 staff that introduced the first Aerial Lidar Company in Africa. This team has been involved right since the inception days of Aerial Lidar Technology
